University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, through the UNC School of Medicine and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center are core collaborators for GeneCentric, in cooperation with the Perou Lab within the Department of Genetics, and the Hayes Lab within the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine.

Dr. Charles Perou, a co-founder of GeneCentric, is the May Goldman Shaw Distinguished Professor of Molecular Oncology. Dr. D. Neil Hayes, also a co-founder of GeneCentric, held a joint appointment with the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the Division of Hematology and Oncology until July of 2017. He has been collaborating with Dr. Perou, as well as Dr. Ned Sharpless and other leading UNC researchers for many years. In working with Drs. Perou and Hayes, GeneCentric is applying experimental approaches proven successful in classifying the molecular subtypes of cancer and elucidating the genetic causes that give rise to each subtype.
